Belagavi: Weavers of Belagavi who are already in a financial crisis owing to several reasons for the past few years staged a dharna in front of DC office in Belagavi in protest against burden which the Centre put on them in the form of GST. The protesters demanded reduction of at least 5% of the taxes currently being imposed on sarees produced by them. Demanding the same, weavers took out a rally from Basaveshwar Circle and reached DC office staging protests. They urged the government to waive their loans as they faced a severe crisis unable to run their businesses effectively. Considering their business as Home Industry, the government should convert their power connections a domestic instead of industry, they said urging the government to come to their rescue and help them out of the crisis situation.

Sujit Mulgund, N R Latur, Gundu Mastmardi, Parashuram Dhage, Satish Tendulkar, Sunil Kataria, Somnath Kolaki, Santosh Zavare, Ganapati Upri and Hemendra Porwal were present.
