Belagavi: Pandemonium prevailed in the Legislative Council as the winter session of the state legislature began with Opposition parties demanding the resignation of Minister K G George in connection with the suicide of DYSP Ganapati Bhat on Monday. Raising the issue, opposition leader in Council, K S Eshwarappa brought to House’s notice that George, ADGP Ashitmohan Prasad and DIG Pranab Mohanti were accused in Bhat’s suicide case and an FIR already filed against them. He asked the government as to why did it not take George’s resignation in such cases and said, the government should initiate stringent action against the accused officials. When Congress MLC Ugrappa intervened to defend the government’s action and decision in Bhat’s case, Eshwarappa involved in a verbal tussle with him. JDS MLC H D Revanna stood up and took the government to the task. The Opposition leaders objected to the way Ugrappa disobeyed Speaker Shankar Murthy. MLC C M Ibrahim then asked the House to discuss North-Karnataka problems instead of raising their issues.
