Belagavi: Even as organisations in North Karnataka are demanding to shift of several offices from Bengaluru to Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi for the last several years, the state government shocked all of them today. An order has been issued by the government for shifting of the office of Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project(KSHIP) from Belagavi to Hassan. Instead of building Belagavi stronger, the government is taking steps against the interests of Belagavi city.

The decision of the government to shift divisional office of KSHIP came a week after CM H D Kumaraswamy assured to ensure overall development of North Karnataka region in response to protests staged by various organisations in the city.

Divisional office of KSHIP is shifted to Hassan while sub-division office to Madikeri as per an order issued by Revenue Department, which is headed by H D Revanna in the state cabinet. The shifting of offices is said to be a handiwork of Revanna and the order for shifting of offices was taken on July 27. What is more shocking is that the offices of KSHIP have been shifted along with all the posts. Several organisations have expressed shock over the government’s stand on North Karnataka development.
